Windows Phone 7.8, expected to arrive early next year, seems like a possible way out for Windows Phone users who have been told that their respective devices are not suited for the latest Windows Phone 8 platform. However, there may still be a few issues regarding a possible WP7.8 port to LG Optimus 7.
Per reports, when contacted by a worried customer via an e-mail about the possible Windows Phone 7.8 on the Optimus 7, LG Poland replied that the device will apparently not receive its Windows Phone 7.8 refresh.
Although it is yet to be seen if the same follows for users outside Europe, it is nonetheless a major shock as Optimus 7 was the manufacturer’s first Windows Phone alongside the 7Q, and continued to be constantly updated to NoDo, Mango, and then Tango.
When asked about the possible upgrade, the reply mail stated: “Dear Sir, Thank you for contacting our customer support. We wish to kindly inform you that it is not expected to introduce software update for your version of the E900 to 7.8.”
Now, per a WMPoweruser report, it seems “likely the answer will be the same when it comes to the LG Quantum, leaving a (small) percentage of Windows Phone users that will not getting the WP 7.8 update after all.”
This is not good news for any Optimus user as it was expected that the device would get some kind of update, especially after Windows Phone 7.8 came into news. It was rumored that the Windows Phone 7.8 update from Microsoft for the users of Windows Phone 7.x version of the OS may expect the refresh to arrive in a matter of days or weeks.
Moreover, it was supposedly stated that not only the updated OS would arriving in a few days, but also that the Windows Phone 7.8 has already been released to manufacturing (RTM). Therefore, as expected, the new refresh would likely be pushed to devices in the near future i.e in the coming days to weeks, much ahead of the next year.
Additionally, among other details, it was also reported that the Nokia Lumia 920/820 Recommended Retail Price (RRP) and release date for Singapore would be announced on Nov. 27 with device availability in early December, and that the device will be penta-band and support LTE worldwide.
