New 'Full Metal Panic!' Anime Confirmed For Fall 2017

A new installment of the "Full Metal Panic!" will be added to the anime franchise and it has been confirmed that it will be released in Fall 2017.

Fans of the "Full Metal Panic!" anime franchise will rejoice with the news that it will be coming back for an additional installment. On Oct. 22, it was officially announced at the Fantasia Bunko Big Thanks Festival 2016 that Shoji Gatoh's light novel series, "Full Metal Panic!" is prepared to release Fall next year. The said festival took place in Akihabara, Tokyo.

The new anime project for "Full Metal Panic!" is reported to be a television anime series and will be titled "Full Metal Panic! IV". Along with the revelation of the show, teasers were released as well which included a photo of an Arm Slave, a huge tall robot primarily used by the military forces in the "Full Metal Panic!" universe, especially by MITHRIL and Amalgam.

It has not yet been determined whether the new anime series would continue where the anime left off 10 years ago. The anime series has ended with an OVA with the second season "Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid" and has left fans hanging. The anime left fans with so many unanswered questions that fans are anticipating that the issue of whether Kaname Chidori is a Whispered or not might finally be answered.

Though the anime series have been halted for a decade now, the manga series have been gradually making progress and has even made spin-offs from the original novel in 2011 and 2016. The anime and manga series follow the same plot, which is about a covert soldier who works for Mithril named Sousuke Sagara who was tasked to protect Kaname. It revolves around their lives as students and as soldiers.

Along with the announcement of a new anime, it was also announced that the "Odoru Very Merry Christmas" special segment from the novel's 6th volume will be turned into an audio drama. The audio drama will star Kaname Chidori, Sousuke Sagara, and Captain Teletha Tessa Testarossa.
