While it is almost confirmed that Windows Phone 7.8 will be arriving soon, maybe before the holidays, nobody knows a specific date as to when the new and upgraded operating system will finally be revealed. However, per reports, a new leak has made its way into the web showing the Windows Phone 7.8 already running on Nokia Lumia 510.
The device, as mentioned before, is a Nokia Lumia 510, which is the most recent addition to Nokia’s budget Lumia Windows Phone line-up. A new video has arrived straight from China and shows the upcoming Windows Phone refresh for WP7-based devices running on the budget Nokia phone.
“In the latest leak we see the newly launched Lumia 510 running a build of WP 7.8, so to anyone who was in doubt that the 510′s low specs would stand in the way of a new start screen- worry not,” a My Nokia Blog report states.
While the most highlighted feature of this handset is undoubtedly its price, one aspect many users are awaiting is the upgrade to Windows Phone 7.8 as, out of the box, it currently runs on Windows Phone 7.5. Now, the new video has surfaced on YouTube showing the Lumia 510 running on the build 8858.136 of Windows Phone 7.8, with a host of features like resizable tiles, Office, different colors options, and more.
The Lumia 510 is the first of Windows Phone-powered smartphones from Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia, and it has come a long way, only to be overtaken by the chart topping Nokia Lumia 920 – the new flagship for the label.
However, the most pleasing news for Lumia 510 owners is that the device’s relatively low specifications are not an issue for the Windows Phone 7.8 update. However, this doesn’t mean that it will deliver the same quality and features similar to the Windows Phone 8, and it would be wrong to expect something like that, mostly after it was confirmed that old Windows Phone-powered smartphones will not get the Windows Phone 8 refresh.
Windows Phone 7.8 is expected to arrive sooner rather than later, and maybe before the start of the next year.
