“Far Cry 3” fans on PC can finally let out a sigh of relief. Per reports, Ubisoft has confirmed that the company has fixed every other issue that has been making the game’s PC gameplay next to impossible.
This fix is a major development after many PC gamers complained that they weren’t being able to play the game’s single-player version due to Uplay, which requires the Internet to authenticate the game. This problem persisted even after Ubisoft had revealed earlier that “Far Cry 3” won’t have any DRM.
“Just wanted to warn you guys, Ubisoft has told everyone that they removed the always on DRM, but guess what happens when their servers go down ? Your screen turns black and the game disconnects you saying that it couldn't connect you to ubisoft servers (this is happening with Far Cry 3 on PC right now, I was unable to play for an entire day because of this, quite fed up with it at this point),” a post of Reddit stated. “This is happening on singleplayer, ridiculous. To top it all off, Ubisoft has the nerve to go around and say that they removed it, when obviously it's still there.”
Ubisoft, however, was fast to react and after pushing out fixes it stated on its official Twitter page: “We’re very sorry for the server issues affecting Far Cry 3 on PC and are working as fast as possible to restore the service.”
The company also confirmed the fixes by stating: “Dear #FarCry3PC players, thank you for your patience, our servers are back up & running. Have fun playing!”
Rock Paper Shotgun had already reported the PC-based problem of the game.
“Today is my day off, hooray! And so far I’ve been treated to a horrible, horrible time, and all at the hands of the technical mess that is Uplay and idiotic mechanical choices. And right now? Ubisoft’s servers are down. On launch day. You can still play in offline mode, but ho boy, this isn’t a good start," wrote RPS' John Walker.
Walker also mentioned that the only way to get around this problem is to set Uplay to offline mode.
