2016 Best Affordable Midrange Phones Of The Year: Samsung Galaxy A8 2016, Samsung Galaxy On8, Sony Xperia E5, Motorola Moto E3 Power, LG X Power, Asus Zenfone 3 Max

Even though the smartphone world has been quite focused on the explosion controversies, this didn't stop the manufacturers from creating solid midrange phones for people who are not after the flagships. As surprising as it may seem, there may actually be more people looking for a good midrange instead of an expensive flagship. If you're looking to buy a new phone before the year ends, here are some options for you.

Sony Xperia E5

Launched May and released in June, the Sony Xperia E5 is one of the most solid options when it comes to midrange phones. It has a 5-inch display with a 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and it runs Android Marshmallow from the box. It's powered by a Mediatek MT6735 processor and comes with 16 GB internal storage. You can expand this storage to up to 256 GB through its microSD slot.

For the phone's RAM, the Sony Xperia E5 comes with 1.5 GB RAM. For the cameras, GSM Arena says that it comes with a 16 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. Like most midrange phones, the Xperia E5 also comes with an FM radio and a sufficient 2300 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A8 2016

The A8 is one of Samsung's most recent midrange smartphones. It has a 5.7-inch display and comes with a 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. It runs Android Marshmallow and powered by an Exynos 7420 Octa chipset. The Galaxy A8 comes with 3 GB RAM and a 32GB/64GB internal storage. However, the Galaxy On8 has a 5.5-inch display and is powered by an Exynos 7580 Octa chipset. It's internal storage is only at 16 GB, but it does come with a 256 GB capacity microSD slot. The Galaxy On8 comes with a 13 MP camera, a 5 MP camera, and a 3300 mAh battery.

Motorola Moto E3 Power

The Motorola Moto E3 Power is a 5-inch smartphone with a decent 720 x 120 p resolution and a Marshmallow OS. While the phone may be on the lower end of the midrange spectrum, it's not that bad as well. It comes with a modest 2 GB RAM and a 16 GB internal storage. It also comes with a 32 GB capacity microSD slot.

The LG X-Power has been announced last May but it just made an appearance last month. The phone comes with a 5.3-inch display and runs Marshmallow from the box. It comes with three chipset variants and has 2 GB worth of RAM. Its internal storage is just 16 GB but it can also be expanded to up to 256 GB through its microSD slot. The X-Power has an 8MP/5MP camera combo and it comes with a Fast Charging enabled 4100 mAh battery.

Asus Zenfone 3 Max ZC520TL

The Asus Zenfone 3 Max is yet another Asus masterpiece that caters to midrange lovers. The phone has a 5.2-inch display and runs Android Marshmallow from the box. It is powered by a Mediatek MT6737M chipset and comes with a 16GB/32GB internal storage. The RAM sizes are 2 GB and 3 GB depending on the storage variant. The phone also has a microSD slot capacity of 256 GB.

For the camera, the Asus Zenfone 3 Max comes with a decent 13 MP rear camera. Its front cam is a modest 5 MP camera. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor and an impressive 4130 mAh battery.
