One would think that all the new features - and then some - of the 2016 MacBook Pro have already been released by various websites. However, one new report blows everything prior to it out of the water, as it reportedly lists down all the necessary information on the upcoming device. It goes as far as to confirm its processor, connection options and the much talked about OLED function keys.
As BGR notes, famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a report on the upcoming improvements and additions that will be made to the 2016 MacBook Pro. The report was initially provided to Apple investors, so there is definite bearing in terms of validity. Fortunately, it also included some vital details on the unit.
The report was initially retrieved by MacRumors and it broke down the updates that would be made to the Mac product. The processor that will power the 2016 MacBook Pro will apparently be Intel's Skylake processor. While this is not the newest one in the market, it will definitely provide the power upgrade that has long been lacking in Apple's line of Mac products.
This goes hand-in-hand with a previous report that claimed the 2016 MacBook Pro has been in production since the earlier parts of the year. It would seem that Apple was unable to wait for the Kaby Lake processor before officially working on the new unit. Apple users will undoubtedly be pleased by the development, as it is a far cry from what current units are sporting.
The second specification that was confirmed is that the pixel resolution of the device will remain the same, but that display quality has been improved. This is apparently due to an additional oxide panel, which also produces better energy efficiency. Whether or not this will make a notable difference in the 2016 MacBook Pro is still unknown at this point. But then again, display quality was never an issue with Mac products anyway.
Reportedly, the new device will also come with more storage options. The new 2TB SSD storage capacity option will be available at an undisclosed price. This additional option will surely make things easier for Apple users, as the need for external storage options will diminish significantly.
The next addition has not been unheard of and has actually been the highlight of most reports for weeks now. That is, that the 2016 MacBook Pro will come with a new OLED touch bar. However, the report likens the same to the one currently sported by the Apple Watch, as its processor reportedly allows for more energy efficiency.
The last detail provided by Kuo's report is a MagSafe-like USB-C adapter. This last piece of information negates previous reports, which claimed that Apple would be leaving behind its MagSafe technology. This is exciting not only because the Cupertino-based company has not released anything like it, but also because it betters a piece of technology that has become synonymous to the brand.
The details provided by the Apple insider are quite frankly necessary updates for the Mac lineup, especially the Skylake processor. Unfortunately, Kuo claims that users will not be able to get their hands on the device until mid-2017. However, the 2016 MacBook Pro will be unveiled on October 27.
