Blizzard will be starting its third season of competition of Overwatch this Dec. 1 and made updates such as adjusted skill ratings and tiers of players. The developer will be ending the second season on Nov. 24, so the developer is giving everyone a heads up on the next season.
What To Expect On Overwatch's Season 3?
Blizzard principal designer Scott Mercer said that the company is creating new updates on Season 3 of Overwatch such as improved skill ratings and ranking of players. The players will reportedly start with a low player ranking. According to IGN, the adjustment on skill ratings is a response to Overwatch Season 2's players' problem with their good start in Gold and Platinum tiers then ending their gameplay in the Bronze and Silver tiers.
"We're also going to initially tune your [skill rating] to be slightly lower to start," Mercer said. "In turn, fewer players should start the season having their skill rating drastically drop despite having close to even wins and losses."
Blizzard is starting with a fresh start by ignoring the problems on skill ratings from season 2 and modifying the competition on Overwatch season 3. In a report on Mic, the latest Overwatch will correctly match the players with the same skills and levels.
Per VG247, Blizzard is running several tests on the Overwatch PTR to resolve the future problems that players might encounter on season 3, so the developer can fix the bugs ahead of time.
Blizzard's First Ever Halloween PvE Event
Last Oct. 12, Blizzard incorporated on Overwatch the holiday-themed event called Halloween Terror. In this update, players will start receiving jack o' lanterns inspired by the holiday. Other inclusions of the updates are new victory poses, emotes, highlight intros, sprays and skins.
Also, a part of Overwatch Halloween Terror is a PvE called Junkenstein's Revenge that includes four players namely Ana, McCree, Hanzo and Soldier 76. These four characters will defend Adlersbrunn castle from bots such as Reaper, Roadhog, Mercy and Junkrat.
