Verizon has officially announced it will start rolling out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S3 from Friday. Verizon has been teasing its customers with support docs of the Jelly Bean update for the Samsung flagship smartphone for a couple of days. "The software upgrade, which will be pushed to customers in phases starting Dec. 14, also makes the smartphone Global Ready. Customers who would like to manually download the upgrade through the settings menu will be able to within the next week," Verizon said in a statement.

The company said the upgrade, version JRO03L.I535VRBLK3, would be an over-the-air (OTA) process, which could be initiated through the Galaxy S3's settings menu. The latest version of the Jelly Bean update will include enhancements and new features like Google Now, which can be accessed by holding down on the home button, a new notification panel that displays missed calls and emails and allow customers to return the call or email right from the notification.

The camera now includes new live camera filters to add a touch of art to pictures, Verizon said. Users can choose different filters such as warm vintage, cold vintage, black and white, sepia, color highlights (blue, green, red/yellow). With another feature, users can pause and resume while recording the video.
