Analyst Say PlayStation VR Has Foundation Elements To Be The Most Successful VR Platform Despite The Current Negative Reactions

While the PlayStation VR has already received a handful of negative comments and even articles not siding with it, one analyst thinks that the gadget will still be successful. The VR headset did not have an exciting start but it still has received support from some gamers. The device, and even the platform, is still young and it's too early to throw in the towel.

The said device's main competitors are HTC Vive and Oculus which prove that the battle is tough. What the PlayStation VR firmly stands right now is that the PlayStation already has a strong player base with their PS4s ready. Also, the fact that VR is still a very young platform, it will take a long time to decide who will reign king of Virtual Reality gaming.

As reported by We Write Things, Michael Goodman, director of digital media strategies at Strategy Analytics, talked about his firm beliefs about the PSVR and how the platform will be most successful in the end. Goodman explains that the PSVR is Sony's first Virtual Reality product and will indeed take time before we acknowledge that games are taking advantage of the hardware's full potential. He adds that, "...We think [PSVR] will do well, but we don't think any [VR] products are going to rock the world. We do think Sony is going to be the most successful."

Theoretically, the PlayStation VR already has the foundation for success because of the PS4's player pool. It is only a matter of time before we get to see AAA games ported to VR. We Write Things also believe that PS4 was way more successful due to the Triple-A games tagging along. When the PSVR title lineup becomes dominated by Triple -A games, this would be the time that we can measure which VR headset has reached full potential and success.

Also, the hype surrounding today's VR launches sort of put the PSVR into pressure as Goodman exclaims that, "Expectations have been sky high" and he adds that people expect too much and that the VR market to have a $120 billion value 5 years after launch is something he disagrees upon. Currently Sony is happy with what the PSVR has done so far, We Write Things reports. Here's a review from The Verge:
