Fans will be happy to know that the waiting for "Sherlock" Season 4 is over. The Public Broadcasting Service has recently announced that it will air the premiere episode of the show on Jan. 1, 2017. This is one full year after "The Abominable Bride," a Sherlock special, was released. It is also three years after a decent season of the TV series was shown.
The Premiere Date Should Not Be A Surprise
Fans shouldn't really be surprised with the announcement of the premiere date of "Sherlock" Season 4. The two previous seasons were also released on New Year's Day. But what is different now is that it is already three years since the last episode of the previous season has gone off the air.
When the filming of "Sherlock" Season 4 commenced in April, showrunner Steven Moffat said: "Sherlock series four-here we go again! Whatever else we do, wherever we all go, all roads lead back to Baker Street, and it always feels like coming home." Waiting fans would readily agree.
"Ghosts of the past are rising in the lives of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson and terror and tragedy are looming," Moffat continued. "This is the story we've been telling from the beginning and it's about to reach its climax," he added. This seems to be another thrilling season.
Holmes And Watson Appear Pensive In Teasers
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freedman, who play Sherlock and Watson respectively, appear pensive in the initial images released by the producers of the show. Fans of the series will have to wait awhile before they see the dangerous adventures the duo will be faced with in "Sherlock" Season 4. But fans will not mind after waiting for three years.
Their pensive mood could suggest that there will be sad times ahead for the crime-solving partners. However, this is just mere speculation. The good thing is: it will only be a couple of months before the show starts. Watch out for more spoilers as the premiere date of "Sherlock" Season 4 grows near.
