Tesla Is About To Enter The Car-Sharing Scene

Car-sharing has become one of the latest trends in keeping down air pollution as well as a long-term solution for worsening traffic conditions. And now, Tesla is looking to enter the car-sharing scene with its plan to put their ride services into action. While in-depth details about how these plans are going to be implemented have not been completely disclosed yet, consumers can be sure that there are good things about this to look forward to.

Tesla Is Not In It For The Money

In an interview with Fortune, CEO Elon Musk revealed more information about the plans of Tesla. Apparently, the main purpose of the program is not to generate revenue for Tesla, although some will still be made. The Tesla car owners that will be joining the network will be the ones that will get most of the benefits since most of the revenue that will be generated through it will go to them.

What's In It For Customers?

One of the benefits of this is that it's going to help add value to the vehicles of the owners that will be joining the network. In addition, Tesla vehicle owners will also get to make a bit of extra money if they are not using their vehicle by renting them out.

It's Not A Competition

One of the other things that were clarified by Elon Musk is that contrary to what a lot of people think, Tesla is not competing against other car-sharing services. As for other details like operations and pricing is concerned, there are no further details about it yet. People will simply have to wait and see how this will turn out.

Other Things To Look Forward To

According to a report from Time, the new vehicles of Tesla called the Model S are being built to come with self-driving functionality. However, the software for this is not yet completed. In addition, Tesla network also issued a disclaimer that using a self-driving Tesla car for revenue purposes will only be allowed under the network of Tesla in which more details will be given in the following year.
