Once you activated it, you can invite other players for different types of duels allowing up to six players. When a match has been found, the players will appear in an arena where the battle commences.

How To Obtain The Champion's Bones
In order to unlock the Undead Matches, you must first obtain the Champion's Bones from the duo that is guarding it. Be careful in traversing this route, for it could be tricky and dangerous.
Return to the bonfire in Ariandel Chapel, then leave the church and head back to the rope bridge that leads up to the building. Don't cross back to the mainland, attack the ropes of the bridge and wait for it to fall. What will remain is just like a ladder that will allow you to descend and get access to a valley. Carefully navigate a series of massive roots until you reach the bottom. You will have to avoid arrows and enemy attacks along the way. There will be a bonfire at the Depths of the Painting in the end.
There will be a flower-covered field with a tower ruin when you head right of the bonfire. Walk closer to the tower until you see the next boss, the Champion's Gravetender. This boss could be difficult, so it might be a good idea to ask for other players' assistance to defeat it.
After killing the boss, collect the Champion's Bones then head back to Firelink Shrine.
