Apple Releases iOS 6.0.2 for iPhone 5, iPad mini with Wi-Fi Bug Fix (Direct Links for Download)

Fixing an annoying intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity, Apple released an updated version of iOS 6. The iOS 6.0.2 patch notes simply said that the latest update "fixes a bug that could impact Wi-Fi." No additional features or security fixes were available with it.

The specifically tailored update for the Wi-Fi bug fix is an exclusive for the iPhone 5 and iPad mini only. Testing the new update, The Next Web reported that "the update is currently available in iTunes only, as the OTA software update tool on devices is returning an error."

The latest update can be downloaded through the iOS Settings application by selecting "General," and then "Software Update." Users can install the update through iTunes on a Mac or PC.

Users had raised many Wi-Fi issues including poor reception and dropped connections. Apple, in its October security notice, admitted to the bug and said, "In rare instances, your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch may be unable to enable Wi-Fi or Bluetooth in Settings." Users will see symptoms such as "unable to turn Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on or off because the setting is grayed out or dim, or missing Wi-Fi or Bluetooth MAC Address missing or displaying all zeros in Settings > General > About," the official note said.

Apple released the last iOS update, version 6.0.1 on Nov. 1 and the company is currently testing iOS 6.1 with developers.
