Randi Zuckerberg Complains of Privacy Breach on Twitter after Facebook Photo Goes Public

It seems even the Facebook top brass is quite confused about the privacy policy of the company .Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's sister, Randi Zuckerberg, took to Twitter complaining about a privacy breach after a Zuckerberg Family photo that she posted on the social networking website went public.

The story began when Randi uploaded a photo of her family, including Mark Zuckerberg, reacting to the new Poke app on Facebook. Assuming it was a public Facebook post, Callie Schweitzer, director of marketing and projects at VoxMedia, , posted the picture on Twitter when it popped up on her newsfeed. Schweitzer subscribes to Zuckerberg's feed, but she and Zuckerberg are not Facebook friends.

A photo you upload with choosing only "Friends," can be seen by friends of any people you've tagged in the photo as well. This complex privacy setting cost Randi dear as a person she did not know (Callie Schweitzer) could see and share the adorable family photo. Angered to see her photo going public, Randi tweeted to Schweitzer that the picture was exclusively for her friends and posting it on twitter was "way uncool." Schweitzer quickly made an apology but said the picture popped up in her Facebook newsfeed and it seemed public. Schweitzer deleted the picture shortly and the tweets were also taken down.

However, Randi later tweeted about online sharing etiquette. "Digital etiquette: always ask permission before posting a friend's photo publicly. It's not about privacy settings, it's about human decency," she wrote.

Her comments invited serious criticism about Facebook's often changing and confusing privacy settings, and sparked a heated debate on the internet.
