Samsung seems to be all set to churn out surprises at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). According to the latest reports doing the rounds, the South Korean tech giant has begun teasing its TV plans for 2013. An image posted on its Samsung Tomorrow blog appears to hint at a translucent portrait TV. The post did not provide any details but just said "A true innovation of TV design is coming up with an unprecedented new TV shape and timeless design," The Verge reported.
Samsung had earlier revealed that it will revamp its Smart Hub platform at CES. The new hub is reportedly arranged into five different categories such as Movies & TV Shows, Apps, Social and Photos, Videos & Music. The smart TV is expected to measure 55-inches and will support various apps. It will feature an interface that is easier to use and will serve as a content platform. The revamped hub will feature a new way to navigate the menu. The feature known as the "Flipping function" will let users flip their way through screens just as how one would flip through the pages of a book. The redesigned menu will have a tile-based layout, similar to Microsoft's Windows 8.
The company is known for its regular release of prototype TVs at CES. The electronic major had released a 55-inch OLED and 70-inch 4K ultra high definition display in 2012.In an earlier teaser, Samsung had reminded the tech world that "something new" is coming at CES, although the short video did not clearly mention what to expect. Though Galaxy S4 was rumored to be the most probable choice, the video did not clearly mention whether it was pertaining to TVs or mobile devices.
