There have been a lot of talks about the newest system that Phil Spencer and his team is currently cooking but until now, any definitive answer regarding the system's specs and features, are yet to be revealed - except for the recent foreshadowing about a lack of VR feature for the Project Scorpio during its debut.
Phil Spencer Expressed His Sentiments With VR Trend
In an interview by Stevivor with Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox team, has shared some of his sentiments regarding VR and its current disposition in the gaming community. He emphasized the lack of profound immersive experience for the current VR games, which he implied, is given considering that VR trend is currently at its early stages of development.
Spencer even stressed out that the VR games that he played on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PSVR felt like demos and experiments instead of an actual immersive gaming experience - to which he then followed, "it's absolutely the right thing to have happened," "That's not a criticism at all, but should be happening. But I think it will take time," he added.
It seems that Spencer is not yet satisfied with the current VR games and that the VR trend will likely be "valuable" by the time these games are perfectly harnessed to finesse. Well, we can't really blame him considering the fact that a lot of VR games today are being released prematurely; just to they can hop in to the growing VR trend.
Xbox Project Scorpio May Not Have VR Feature During Launch
During the near conclusion of the interview, Spencer said: "We designed Scorpio as a VR-capable console. Whether that happens this year, next year or the year after... like I said, I still think the creative community has to get its arms around what are these new tools, and this new feeling - this new immersion.
It is a clear foreshadowing that the Project Scorpio MAY not have VR support during its official debut especially if you try to connect all of his opinion regarding the VR trend. The good news however, is that the Project Scorpio will definitely have VR support but it's still unclear whether or not, the new system will have one during its launching.
After all, with all the success that Xbox is getting, Microsoft is pretty confident with their new system that they're not in a rush to hop in with the current overly-hyped and saturated trend. Bottom line is, even though Project Scorpio may or may not have VR support at first, it's still safe to assume that Xbox has a lot of surprises in stored for us in the next Q1 of 2017.
