The official unveiling of the Huawei Mate 9 is set for this Thursday, November 3, in Munich, Germany but details of the new phablet have already been leaked.
A photo featuring the front and the back of the Mate 9 was featured on CNMO, a Chinese website, while the specs have been floating around for a while now.
The phone in the leaked image is covered in gold metal shell and visibly has a fingerprint scanner at the rear.
Processor/GPU/OS
Under the Mate 9's hood will be a 64-bit, Quad core, 2.5 GHz, Cortex A72 + Quad core, 1.8GHz, HiSilicon Kirin 960 Cortes A53. The Huawei Mate 9 will employ the Mali-T880 MP4 GPU and run on Android OS, v7.0 Nougat.
Display
The screen of the Mate 9 in the leaked image is around 5.9 inches as estimated by Tech Radar. The rumored IPS LCD Capacitive Touchscreen will have a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a multi-touch display with a 490PPI.
Storage
It was already revealed that Mate 9 will use large batteries. Also, it is known that the phone will be available in three different versions. One variant will have 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. The other will also have 4GB RAM but with 12GB internal storage while the third variant will have 64GB RAM with 256GB storage.
Camera
BGR cites a Weibo post that says the new Huawei device will have two Leica cameras - a 20-megapixel and a 12-megapixel one. The rear camera is rumored to have dual-LED flash, autofocus, phase detection, Geo-tagging, touch focus, panorama, and face and smile detection capabilities. The video recorder will be 2160p.
Connectivity
Possible connectivity features include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, DLNA, WiFi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2 with A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS.
Battery
The battery is rumored to be a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery which is fast-charging but non-removable.
Other Details
The Mate 9 is expected to weigh 185 grams and measure 7.9 mm thick just like the Mate 8. It will be available in aluminum metal finish with Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray and Mocha Brown colors. The phablet will utilize Corning Glass v4 for protection.
There is no news, official or otherwise, of the possible price tag on the Mate 9 but some estimate it to go somewhere around $770 per unit.
