Samsung Galaxy S2 users have been awaiting the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for long. There was no reliable news about any imminent update to the device even after its successor Samsung Galaxy S3 and stablemate Samsung Galaxy Note 2 received the Google operating system's updates. The long wait seems to have come to an end finally and Galaxy S2 users have reasons to cheer now as the South-Korean smartphone maker has announced that it will soon start rolling out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates to S2 owners, the CNET reported.
According to the report, a Samsung spokesperson has confirmed to CNET that the update will reach the Galaxy S2 users by the beginning of February in Singapore. It further stated that the company's Korean website had posted the details about the Jelly Bean update for the S2 which it took down after some time. However, the post reportedly said the update can be downloaded via Samsung Kies and not over-the-air (OTA). The update is expected to take at least 1GB of the 12GB of available internal memory of the device.
Meanwhile, a report on Autoomobile revealed that the update will bring the much-talked about multi-windows feature to Samsung Galaxy S2. With this feature coming to S2, the device will become the smallest Samsung smartphone to run two apps simultaneously in split-screens. The report also notes that the Jelly Bean update will bring many other features including a new Gallery app, Swype style keyboard, Smart Stay, Smart Rotation etc to Samsung Galaxy S2.
