‘The Defenders’ Episode Count And More Cast Announced; The Punisher To Join The Team?

Netflix has just released more news regarding the upcoming Marvel series, “The Defenders”. It has revealed that the pilot season will be having eight episodes. Netflix has also additional cast and recurring characters for the series.

Netflix has just confirmed that one of the most awaited Marvel series, “The Defenders” will have eight episodes on its first season. The first season of “The Defenders” television series is set to air in 2017. The series will see a story of four Marvel superheroes teaming up to save the city.

With eight episodes greenlighted for the new Marvel series, some have concluded that it might be too short but it seems that Marvel will be focusing more on quality over quantity this time. It has been reported that S.J. Clarkson, who directed some of the episodes of “Jessica Jones”, will be directing the first two episodes of “The Defenders”. Moderator and head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said, “We loved her work on ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’ and couldn’t think of a more talented and accomplished person to helm the first two episodes of ‘Marvel’s The Defenders’”.

Aside from the confirmation of the episode count, additional cast members have been revealed for “The Defenders” as well. The series will star the Krysten Ritter, Charlie Cox, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones who portrays the four Marvel superheroes in this series. It has also been initially reported that Sigourney Weaver will play as the villain in the series, which has not been revealed yet but most likely be The Hand.

Now more actors have been announced to be on board the new Marvel series. The new teaser has revealed that Deborah Ann Woll and Simone Missick will be on “The Defenders” to reprise their roles as Karen Page and Misty Knight, respectively. It has also just been confirmed that Elden Henson, Eka Darville, Rachel Taylor, Carrie-Ann Moss, Scott Glenn, and Rosario Dawson will all be reprising their roles as well in “The Defenders”.

With more cast announced, fans are now speculating if Jon Bernthal will be in the new Netflix series as well. Jon Bernthal portrays Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher in the Marvel series, “Daredevil” and there will be a separate series for the said Marvel anti-hero. The speculations rose from the initial “The Defenders” teaser featuring letters from each of the superheroes’ logos and apparently one of it allegedly belonged to “The Punisher” logo.

“The Defenders” is an upcoming Marvel series that will air on Netflix and will be about a team consisting of Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. If The Punisher does show up in the series, it might be for a cameo or maybe if fans are lucky, be even part of “The Defenders” team. Marvel Television and Netflix has yet to confirm whether or not Jon Bernthal will join the cast.
