Following rounds of rumors circulating that "Criminal Minds" season 12 is off to the cancelation zone, CBS debunked the speculations outright. New reports, however, have surfaced that season 13 will recast Thomas Gibson. What does CBS have to say to this?
"Criminal Minds" Season 12 Not Canceled
In a full disclosure report of TV Fanatic published Monday, Oct. 31, the entertainment website made a quick rundown as to which CBS shows are likely to be canceled wherein "Criminal Minds" was enlisted. Other shows on the list are "The Big Bang Theory," "Kevin Can Wait," "NCIS," "The Great Indoors," and "Bull." However, there is no official statement yet as whether or not Gibson will reprise his role in season 13.
In a previous report, "Criminal Minds" season 12 was said to likely hurt badly in terms of audience share following the departure of Thomas Gibson who played Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner. As of the latest report, season 12 episode 4 titled "Keeper," which was aired on Oct. 26, garnered only 7.66 viewers, down by nearly 10 percent from episode 3's 8.4 million viewers. It can be noted that there is a running campaign started by Gibson's fans on Twitter using the tag #NoHotchNoWatch since he left the show.
Paget Brewster, Gary Sinise Confirm Ongoing Shoot
Amid this crisis the show had to go through, there's no way CBS is ending it. In fact, "Criminal Minds" guest stars confirmed separately on Twitter that they are shooting new episodes for the show. Gary Sinise, who plays Jack Garrett, said in his tweet last Oct. 27: "Getting ready for some day shooting of Criminal Minds Beyond Borders. I'm tryin a little something different for Season 2 (sic)." On the other hand, Paget Brewster, who plays Emily Prentiss, last Thursday, Nov. 3 said in her tweet: "Episode 12 in #CriminalMinds might shoot a scene half-asses tomorrow because TONIGHT IS THE BEST BASEBALL GAME EVER!!"
In other news, many fans have been disappointed after learning that the episode shown on Wednesday night, Nov. 2 was a rerun. Although CBS had issued prior notice regarding postponement of episode 5, many fans had not been informed about it.
"Criminal Minds" season 11 airs every Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
