UFC crossover star Ronda Rousey has already addressed that her next fight will be one of her last fights. And if that is the real case, would the Former UFC women's bantamweight champion (or a possible current champion by that time?) hang up her leather gloves and pursue a career in the WWE?
The truth is, win or lose, Ronda Rousey has already established herself as a legend in MMA. Her dominance in the division is still unmatched up to this day and would take a long time for anyone to supplant it. She has taken women's MMA to an unbelievable level in such a short amount of time with her prowess in the ring and good looks.
So if she decides to call it quits in the near future, a lot of options will be there waiting for Rousey. She already has an appearance in a couple of Hollywood films like the blockbuster "Furious 7" and "The Expendables 3."
But one appealing prospect for Rousey would combine both her martial arts background and acting craft by signing on as WWE's latest wrestling superstar.
It is no secret that Ronda Rousey is a big pro wrestling fan. Ronda even asked permission from legendary pro wrestler Roddy Piper for the use of the moniker, "Rowdy." Plus, she has also appeared in WrestleMania 31 in a wrestling angle with The Rock against The Authority. Though it was what you would call a minor participation, the reaction from the wrestling world was nothing short of electrifying.
In an interview with Stephanie McMahon, the daughter of the WWE's chairman as well as Chief Brand Officer for the company has this to say when asked about the possibility of bringing Rousey back:
"I sure hope so. I gotta get her back. She put me in that arm bar. I'm certainly going to try."
Well, that certainly makes a Rousey return quite possible. If the WWE somehow pulls this off just imagine all the money and buzz that will make for the company. Not to mention the type of legitimacy that could bring to the WWE.
Which leads me to suspect one problem of a Rousey signing. If it indeed does happen, the big question for the creative team of the WWE would be:
Who can they pit against Ronda Rousey that people will think could actually beat her?
Unless they manage to sign Rousey conqueror, Holly Holm. This arc could be quite problematic for the WWE. How can they possibly expect fans to believe that the company's "Divas" has a legitimate shot against a dominant figure like Rousey?
So if they could not find a way around this, I think the only possible scenario is to get Rousey in a much-limited role. Not much different from that deal they gave to Brock Lesnar. Ronda could appear in the major shows, brawl with another wrestler, get people to pay up, and leave to fight another day.
Ronda Rousey is definitely one of those special individuals the world just can't get enough of. And whatever happens after her fight with Amanda Nunes, it will be a no-brainer to assume that a lot of parties with vested interests will be watching.
