iMac 2017 Rumor Roundup: What We Know So Far

Apple is working on new iMacs, however, there is no official statement from Apple yet. October 27, 2016, the event came and went with no new iMacs, suggesting we won't see a revive until early 2017.

It's not been that long since the iMac was updated (although that update was long overdue) However, while the high-end models use Skylake processors already, the 21.5in models are still using Broadwell chips - however, it would appear that Intel has no plans to make Skylake chips that would be suitable for the iMacs as Skylake won't include the integrated Iris or Iris Pro graphics cards that are used with these Macs. If an update happens in 2016 we don't expect it to come until much later in the year, according to Macworld.

Some sources state that 11 quad-core processors are contracted by Apple in the first quarter of next year. The lineup of processors includes a single Xeon E3 v6 chip, three Core i7 processors and seven Core i5 models.

Based on the leaks so far, the new MacBook Pro will ship this fall with new processors, Thunderbolt 3, USB-C, and a touch-sensitive OLED display in place of the row of function keys at the top of the built-in keyboard. The OLED display will serve as a dynamic key row showing app-specific functions.

Another anticipated feature in the upcoming iMacs is the VR capability. With all major brands looking to enhance and compete with the VR capabilities, Apple too could be in the race, according to Mobile & Apps.

All of the iMacs in Apple's lineup include a FaceTime HD video camera, stereo speakers, and dual microphones, magic mouse, Magic keyboard and Magic Trackpad 2. They include Bluetooth 4.0 support and super fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi, which has been included in all iMacs and MacBooks for the last few years. Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C ports are also expected in the iMac 2017.

One of the popular products from Apple is the iMac lineup. Apple fans are eager to see an iMac release that will brag impeccable specs and features.
