It is already early November and Samsung has just decided to release the October security update for their Galaxy series such as the S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, S7 and S7 Edge. The update for these smartphones is designed to bring a security improvement among the other devices.
According to sources, the firmware version is XXU3BPJ3 for the S6 Edge Plus, XXU4DPJH is for the Galaxy S6 Edge, G930TUVU4APK1 for S7 and G935TUVU4APK1 for S7 Edge. The said update are currently being rolled out to unlock the smartphones in Europe and some areas of the North America. It might take some time before the update finds its way to every device, but at least we know that there will be a sure update.
According to a report from GSM Arena, the size of the update is around 350 MB, which isn't too bad for the memory. It is also recommended to download the October security update over Wi-Fi for the sake of saving on data charges.
Honestly speaking, you will not get much on the updates. Security seems to be the main and relevant improvement here. And another development is the extent of the battery life due to efficient memory management and overall stability. It is also mentioned from the Dutch website, Galaxy Club, that the update also brings along some bug fixes and feature improvement.
According to Inquisitr, owners of these Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones can also manually check if there’s a firmware ready to be installed by simply going to the Settings menu of the smartphone. After doing so, choose the About Device option and then tap Software Updates. The system will then search if there is any software available for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge or S6 Edge Plus.
If you are a Samsung owner, you better check your settings now because your smartphone might be allowed for this download.
