The Pelicans have not yet won an NBA season and it is reported that their star power forward, Anthony Davis is getting a bit frustrated with all the losing. And they are losing despite Anthony Davis putting up inhuman numbers.
Let us forget for a minute that opening game the Pelicans had against the Denver Nuggets where AD scored 50 points and grabbed 15 boards. Because the truth is, he did not have that much help from his teammates in that game. What is really frustrating is the game against Milwaukee where he put up 35 points and 15 rebounds in yet another losing effort but this time with some help from the other Pelicans. This paints a grim and gloomy picture for the 2016-2017 season of the New Orleans Pelicans.
According to Yahoo, this has caused some frustrations to the NBA star.
With increasing pressures in today's NBA about getting the championship, it is not surprising that the young star may soon try to force his team to start moving pieces or just trade him.
And if the New Orleans Pelicans does the unthinkable and trade Anthony Davis, which teams are possible destinations for the phenomenal cager?
The New York Knicks
I'd like to start off with the Knicks, just so their fans could at least get a bit excited. The only possible trade at this time if the Knicks wants to acquire Anthony Davis is by dealing off Kristap Porzingis along with Derrick Rose. According to a source, the Knicks is unwilling to give up a potentially rare talent like Porzingis, but if you factor in a once in a lifetime superstar like Anthony Davis, then that changes everything.
The only way I see this trade happening is if Porzingis suddenly has a breakout a season and if Anthony Davis becomes more vocal about his frustrations with his team. Right now, the Pelicans might want to set their sights somewhere else.
The Boston Celtics
If the Boston Celtics do acquire Anthony Davis, then the entire eastern conference will never be the same. But who exactly would the Celts have to give up in order to acquire Davis? The answer would be a lot.
According to a site, the Celtics can make this trade possible by unloading Marcus Smart, Amir Johnson, Jaylen Brown, Kelly Olynyk, and a couple of first round pick. The Celtics would get Davis and Frazier from the Pelicans. While a lot of Celtic fans would scream at the opportunity of acquiring someone like Anthony Davis, gutting half of your team might be a steep price to pay.
But then again, the chance to see Boston's star point guard, Isaiah Thomas and Anthony Davis, is a prospect that sure seems like fun. Plus, the fact that they would still get to retain Al Horford may finally create a team formidable enough to end Lebron James' superiority in the east.
While all of these trade scenarios are juicy enough for fans to ponder on. It is highly unlikely that this trade will happen anytime this season. The Pelicans would be fools to let go of Anthony Davis right now and should go about focusing on looking for pieces to fit their main guy. But they have to do it really quick, as today's NBA players are not as patient as the older generation.
As of now, it is always fun to speculate and dream regarding blockbuster trades like this.
