The Samsung Galaxy S7 Nougat beta update will soon be released to members who signed up for the Beta Program in the United Kingdom. Users of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be able to test out all the new features available in Android 7.0 Nougat.
Last year, Samsung released the Android Marshmallow beta for users for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in December, while regular users got the official update in February 2016. This helps users to try out an upcoming software update and provide valuable feedback.
Samsung is usually very late when it comes to providing software updates, so it's nice to see that they have started this program. Google has already released Android 7.1 Nougat with bug fixes and new features for supported Nexus and Pixel devices.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Nougat Update
A Galaxy Beta program app was released to users in the U.K. recently, as reported by SamMobile, but was taken down soon after. Now Samsung, through its website states that the Beta app will be available once again starting Nov. 9.
To register and try out the Galaxy S7 Nougat update, users will have to download the Galaxy Beta Program app from Galaxy Apps. After downloading the app, the user will have to fill out a registration form and submit it through the app. If the user is lucky enough, he/she will get selected for the beta program and will receive the Android 7.0 Nougat software. Selected users will receive OTA updates for new Android 7.0 software and can send feedback using the Galaxy Beta Program app.
The update is only compatible with the unlocked version of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Also, the Olympic and the Batman Injustice Edition of the S7 Edge are not compatible with the beta. The beta period will last till December and as of now, only residents in the U.K. can download the app.
Samsung will most likely provide more details about the beta program and Galaxy S7 Nougat update in an official announcement soon. Until then, check out all the new features in Android 7.0 Nougat.
