HP Adds 14-Inch Chromebook To Lineup

Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced, Monday, the introduction of its first Chromebook, adding to the company' existing large lineup of PCs, laptops and workstations.

At a price point of $329.99, the HP Pavilion 14 Chromebook is HP's first machine to run Chrome OS and the company's offering customers more choices by offering them multiple operating systems to choose from. The HP Pavillion 14 Chromebook runs on a 1.1GHz Intel Celeron 847 processor, has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of flash storage memory and a 14 inch display, making it 2 inches larger than any other Chromebook available.

Users will experience the benefits of popular Google features including Search, Gmail, Google Drive, Google+ and the Chrome Web Store. For two years, Google Drive offers 100GB of free cloud storage for instant availability of files from any Internet capable device. From the Chrome Web Store, users can customize their HP Chromebook with downloadable apps designed for work or play.

For Google+ Hangouts for multi-person video chat, the HP TrueVision HD Webcam works well in low lighting for a great viewing experience.

A larger display, diagonally of 14-inches, combines the functionality of mobility and the ease of comfort. Although the screen size is larger, the resolution of 1366 x768 pixels is identical to that of other 11.6-inch Chromebooks. The signature HP BrightView display, allows users a fast and effortless way to view and surf the Web. Access to Google applications, social networks and personal photos and documents is simplified and enhances the Google user experience. For home users, the HP Pavillion 14 Chromebook is an excellent companion and offers mobility without sacrificing full size comfort.

The HP Pavilion 14 Chromebook comes with a built-in Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for security protection, to guard against unauthorized access to user credentials and other sensitive data. Automatic updates of the software and security features of the Chrome OS make maintenance of the machine effortless.

"Google's Chrome OS is showing great appeal to a growing customer base," said Kevin Frost, vice president and general manager, Consumer PCs, Printing and Personal Systems, HP. "With HP's Chromebook, customers can get the best of the Google experience on a full-sized laptop-all backed up by our service and brand."
