Model manager, producer and NY businesswoman Nadja Atwal is in front of the camera once again, appearing in a new campaign for the animal rights organization, PETA.
In January, Atwal was named the "Sexiest Power Woman of all Time," by Viva Glam Magazine, beating models Gisele Bundchen, Heidi Klum and Ivanka Trump. The PETA ad features the stunning and glamorous German-born beauty with the statement "Only Freedom is Exotic."
Atwal, who has previously worked with PETA as a developer and producer with some of her clients, advocates the organization's mission. "I was totally taken by surprise from the overwhelming positive media feedback that has poured in from all over the world and immediately decided to channel it into an awareness campaign that is dear to my heart," says Atwal in a statement.
The PETA ad is aimed to target zoos and the fact that exotic animals are kept in captivity in artificial living environments. Atwal recalls how she would frequent zoos until she learned what she describes as ""devastating facts." "I travel across the world, am the captain of my time, can live out my dreams and needs, live a free life. The life of animals in zoos is unnatural and imposed on them - there is no justification for it," said Atwal.
PETA said, "The living conditions at these attractions are often dismal, with animals confined to tiny, filthy, barren enclosures, but even the best artificial environments can't come close to matching the space, diversity, and freedom that animals have in their natural habitats. This deprivation-combined with relentless boredom, loneliness, and sometimes even abuse from the people who are supposed to be caring for them-causes many captive animals to literally lose their minds."
As a savvy businesswoman, Atwal maintains a healthy balance between her work and family life as a mother of a one year old son and wife of a genetic cancer research professor. Atwal runs her own media company, has graced the front pages of newspapers, modeled for fashion magazines and has appeared in and produced TV shows and films. On Feb. 24, she will be commentating live from the Oscars for the European TV channel PRO7.
