After the post-TI6 reshuffle, Evil Geniuses released their long-time core player, Clinton "Fear" Loomis alongside its iconic team captain, Peter "ppd" Dager. After the following weeks, Fear returned as an active coach for the team while ppd has retired entirely. But when Valve announced that it will allow substitution for its Majors' already locked rosters, many teams have utilized this new feature including EG in which case, they have announced that old man Fear will be their 6th player-sub for the upcoming Boston Major.
Dota 2 Evil Geniuses
Evil Geniuses is one of the top organizations when it comes to Dota 2 eSport, having cemented their dominance in the scene for the past three years. Starting at TI4, EG has been stellar with their feats and became an icon for one of the scene's most stable and consistent teams both roster and performance-wise. The team may have been through numerous roster changes but never had it undergone a major one until after TI6 where they dropped their most prominent and long-time members: PPD and Fear.
New EG Dota 2 Roster
The change comes as a surprise for the fans especially the fact that EG had reached 3rd place in the last TI 2016. But despite that, the fans of Evil Geniuses still welcomed the new roster as they're not totally alien in all actuality; truth is, they're the standing members of the team: Zai (once announced his retirement) and Arteezy (in and out from the organization). Only Cr1t (former OG support) is the new face in the organization where he was then promoted into the captain role after releasing ppd.
Fear's Comeback
Evil Geniuses announced via Twitter, the return of Fear in the active playing squad members as their 6th player-sub for the upcoming Boston Major. When it comes to his specific role, EG has yet to make any details as for the moment. But take note that Fear is one of the most versatile veterans out there, having played both 1st position (hard carry) and 5th position (hard support) roles in the competitive scene.
A lot are speculating that Fear is making a comeback in the pro scene and this is a clear indication that he's still not ready to retire. Although it's still too early to assume for now, the best thing we can do as fans is to celebrate the return of one of the oldest and most iconic personalities in the Dota 2 eSports.
