OnePlus 3 fans can rejoice knowing that the latest flagship from OnePlus will get the Android 7.0 Nougat update by the end of this year. The OnePlus 3, announced in June of this year, still has not received the Android Nougat update and users have been waiting a long time.
This is normal, as it is usually the Google devices that get the latest Android software updates first. Other manufacturers take their time to customize the stock Android interface and add their own UI along with other apps. That takes a couple of months and only the latest smartphones from the manufacturer gets the update.
OnePlus 3 Android Nougat Update
According to Engadget, a community build will be available later this month. And once all the bugs and issues are fixed, an OTA update will be released for all users. Brian Yoon, the head of software at OnePlus also told Engadget that the OnePlus 2 will also get the Android 7.0 Nougat update. However, an ETA was not given for the OnePlus 2 update.
This is good news for all OnePlus 3 and 2 owners, as everyone has been eagerly waiting to try out the new Nougat update. Of course, those who want to try it out can also install the CyanogenMod 14 ROM, which brings Nougat to the OnePlus 3.
Android Nougat on the OnePlus 3 makes the smartphone faster and brings a ton of new features. It also improves the battery life and fixes several bugs. OnePlus will also include few of their own features in the update. Android Authority reported that a few months ago, OnePlus merged its HydrogenOS and OxygenOS teams, which will help speed up the delivery of software updates.
OnePlus 3 Nougat Release Date
As mentioned earlier, a confirmed date for the OnePlus 3 Android Nougat update is not available yet. The company has only said that the update will be available to users by the end of this year.
OnePlus is also announcing a new smartphone on Nov. 15, rumored to be called the OnePlus 3T. It is said to feature a better processor, improved camera and will come pre-installed with Android 7.0 Nougat.
