Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD Tablet: There's A New Tablet In Town

Verizon announced an updated version of its Ellipsis 8 - the Ellipsis 8 HD.

The new Ellipsis device is a slight improvement from its predecessor. It now has better camera, better resolution, and a more updated operating system.

The Verge sees the Ellipsis 8 HD as a decent device for those who "just need an Android tablet". The 8 HD does not strike out with its design unlike the ones made by Apple and Samsung. What it does is that it does the job required of it.

Specifications

The Ellipsis 8 HD runs on 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor. It has 16GB of storage and 3GB of RAM. The new tablet utilizes the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS instead of Kit-Kat which was used for the Ellipsis 8.

The 8-inch screen has a 1920 x 1200 resolution display, up from the Ellipsis 8's 720p resolution. The updated device now has an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front-facing one. The 8 just had a 5-mp rear camera. It is also equipped with a 5100mAh battery.

The Tech Coach is a new feature of the Ellipsis 8 HD which provides free online or voice technical support. The feature will last for one year after the tablet is activated.

The HD 8 comes in two colors - Midnight Blue and Arctic Grey.

Price

The new Verizon device is available for $249.99 each and is currently on sale over at Verizon's online store. There are other options, according to Android Authority, for those who'd rather not shell out that much cash in one go. Verizon offers the Ellipsis 8 HD through a couple of payment plans. One plan lets the customer have the device by paying $99.99 and getting a standard two-year contract from Verizon. Another option is to pay $10.41 a month for 24 months.

Verizon is in the news not just because of its newest tablet device. The company is supposed to purchase Yahoo for $4.8 billion but the deal is currently at a standstill. Verizon is rethinking the merger after Yahoo admitted that a hack that happened two years ago resulted in half a billion of its accounts being compromised.
