Pokemon GO developer Niantic is hosting a special massive Lapras spawning event in several Japanese coastlines that got hit by tsunami more than five years ago. Interested players have until Nov. 23 to catch as many Lapras as they can.
Where Does Niantic Plan To Hold The Event?
The Lapras will be spawning en masse on the coastlines of Fukushima, Iwate and Miyagi Prefecture. These are the areas that got hit by a massive tsunami and are still recovering from that disaster. Fortunately, the Japanese government and Niantic have found some way to help the residents in the affected areas, according to the Nikkei Asian Review.
Catch Lapras For A Cause
Lapras are one of the most powerful creatures in the Pokemon GO game right now. They are also quite rare and it's not easy finding them in the wild. Some players can get them by hatching a 10KM Egg. Japanese players are expected to flock to these coastal towns and capture one or several Lapras in there. Their presence alone could help the local economy as well since it is hope that the event will draw in both local and foreign tourists.
Pokemon GO players who lived outside Japan but would like to travel and have the cash to spare are encouraged to come there. It may be an expensive way to capture Lapras but you can at least get more than a dozen of them and also help the people out there.
Massive Japan Lapras Spawn Event Limited Time Only
The special Japanese Lapras spawn event however, is only for a limited time only. Pokemon GO players will only have until November 23 to take advantage of this limited offer. Pokemon GO is also popular in Japan and it's expected that they will come in droves. It's good that Niantic is hosting special spawn events to help a worthy cause. We can expect more such events in the future.
