1Password is probably the best password management app available on macOS. Now, AgileBits, the developer, has updated the app to support the new Touch Bar and Touch ID on the 2016 MacBook Pro.
1Password for macOS: MacBook Pro 2016
The new MacBook Pro was recently updated with Touch ID and a very useful Touch Bar that replaced the function keys. The new 1Password app is one of the first apps to be approved by Apple that supports the feature.
Users of the 1Password app on macOS can now use fingerprint to unlock the master password on the app. Simply place a finger on the Touch ID sensor on the new MacBook Pro and it will be unlocked. A release note from the developer reads as follows;
1Password can now be unlocked with your fingerprint on the new Touch ID-capable MacBook Pro! Touch Bar support has landed! While using 1Password you will see enhanced controls in the Touch Bar on your new MacBook Pro. Setting up 1Password for the first time on your computer is a dream. We've rewritten the entire setup experience from scratch to make it easier to get you up and running. Improved integration for searching your vaults with apps like Alfred. Unlocking with your fingerprint is as easy as swish and flick.
How 1Password Works On Touch Bar And Touch ID
To enable unlocking using Touch ID on the MacBook Pro, head over to the Security Preferences settings inside the 1Password app. Once enabled, the app will use the fingerprint instead of the master password.
The Touch Bar will allow users to switch between different password vaults according to Apple Insider. Apart from that, users can also use the Touch Bar to add new entries, change categories, lock vaults and search. Check out the screenshots that 9to5Mac posted which show the new Touch Bar functions.
The latest 1Password app for macOS is available for download from the macOS app store. It costs $64.99 and requires Mac OS X 10.10 or later.
