In the Android smartphone market, Samsung is arguably the best and biggest player. The Korean tech's offerings are normally one of the top options in most - if not all - tiers. And with the power and efficiency that often times arrives with each handset, there is no wonder why. However, the Galaxy line is not the cheapest options out there. That is, until Black Friday 2016.
As BGR reports, Samsung itself is offering a varied amount of Black Friday deals. And while the same are already viewable, the will not be ready for purchase until November 20. The smartphones included in the deal are Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S5 units, with savings of at least US$150. The catch is that these units are pre-owned devices, but have been recertified by Samsung.
The S6 Edge in a 64GB variant is priced at US$499.99, which is about US$175 cheaper than it normally goes for. On the other hand, the 32GB offering will be sold at US$449.99, which will allow buyers to save about US$200. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S6 64GB variant will be sold at US$449.99, which will provide US$220 worth of savings. The 32GB variant will be available for US$399.99, which is about US$185 less than retail. The S5 16GB units will be sold at US$299.99, an estimated US$150 less than the current original price.
The Galaxy S6 Edge has been dubbed by some as the greatest smartphone of 2015 - and for good reason. Trusted Reviews even wrote that it is still considered a good investment, even with the S7 and S7 Edge options already dominating the market. The S6 Edge was just the second in Samsung's history to offer an Edge variant.
The device has a 5.1 inch, 2560x1440 pixel per inch resolution, Super AMOLED display and a still-powerful Octa-core processor. It also runs on as much as 3GB of RAM - which is still pretty standard in the current market. Straight from the box, the S6 Edge runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, but this can soon be upgraded to the latest OS.
The front camera of the handset is a notable 5 megapixels, while the rear camera is 16 megapixels. The Galaxy S6 Edge also has a 2600 mAh battery, which reportedly allows for 18 hours of continuous phone use. It measures 5.59 x 2.76 x 0.28 inches all around and weighs just 4.66 ounces, or 132 grams.
The unit, even in today's standards, do not miss out. The only real drawback from the Black Friday deal is that the device will be pre-owned upon purchase. However, one should consider as well that the unit has been refurbished for any physical or internal problem by none other than Samsung itself and is pretty much as good as new.
Samsung's 2016 Black Friday deals also cover various appliances. Its 75 inch Class JU7100 4K UHD Smart TV, for example, will be available for just US$2,499.99, which will provide savings of as much as $3,500. Meanwhile, The Samsung 1.1 cu. ft. Counter Top Microwave,
5.8 cu. ft. Gas Range and Front Control Dishwasher will sell for US$99, US$549 and US$300 respectively.
