A photo of HTC's black One phone has hit the Internet, UnwiredView reports, continuing a trend of HTC being completely unable to keep a lid on its new products.
The image confirms that HTC's new phone will have two buttons and a front-facing camera. This image differs from an earlier preview of the silver version, in that it shows New York as the city, rather than London, and once again emphasizes Feb. 19 (which first appeared as a timer on HTC's official site).
The new photo also shows a preview of the HTC Sense 5.0 interface, featuring a Facebook feed, a news story from Huffington Post and video of a Far East Movement performance.
HTC is expected to hold a press conference Tuesday, Feb. 19 to announce the One, known as the M7 in development (several sources have speculated on whether or not it will be released as the One or the M7), rather than at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month.
The phone allegedly will feature a 4.7-inch 1080p display, 13-megapixel camera, a metal case, a high-level Adreno graphics processor and the 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon. The One also is expected to include 2GB of RAM, Sense 5.0, LTE connectivity and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, says BGR.
Recent rumors say that the HTC One will launch on all four major US carriers March 22, but Verizon will lag behind the others — although it may just be releasing a similar device called the DROID DNA Plus instead. Pricing is rumored to be the same across all four: $300 for the 64GB and $200 for the 32GB.
HTC's smartphones are generally well-received by reviewers, but the Taiwanese producer has not seen the same results from consumers, who generally opt for Apple or Samsung devices. In November, the company replaced its chief marketing officer, John Wang, with Benjamin Ho, Motorola's former CMO, in an attempt to make itself more appealing to potential buyers.
