After first being seen in the 2016 Geneva Auto show earlier this year, the 2018 Toyota C-HR has worked up a lot of hype with its teaser image and early unveiling a couple of days ago. All these events have led to its stunning 2016 LA Auto Show debut where fans and enthusiasts have patiently awaited its arrival.
The 2018 Toyota C-HR Powertrain
According to Motor Authority, the 2018 Toyota C-HR has only one option for its powertrain for the U.S spec which is the 2.0-liter inline-4 engine capable of putting out 144 horsepower paired with 140 pound-feet of torque. The power is sent to its front wheels though a continuously variable transmission (CVT). In a report given by CNET, the 2018 Toyota C-HR has an option of a 1.8-liter hybrid and 1.2-liter engines capable of producing 120 and 133 horsepower respectively. The latter also comes with an option for a manual gearbox. Unfortunately, these other specs are only offered in Europe.
Other Features
As reported, the 2018 Toyota C-HR also has a sport mode feature that emulates that feeling drivers get when they are changing gears. In addition, it's also equipped with a special differential that makes maneuvering in the city easier by distributing the torque in the front wheels during low-speed runs. Driver assist features include collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control. Infotainment comes with standard AM/FM/HD radio, AUX jack, USB port and Bluetooth and voice activation.
2018 Toyota C-HR Price And Release
According to Motor Authority, the 2018 Toyota C-HR is expected to be seen in showrooms within the first half of the following year. There are no details given about its pricing yet but announcements are going to be made closer to its launch. A report from CNET stated that the price may be cheaper than the Toyota RAV4.
