Pokémon Sun and Moon are now up for grabs worldwide. With this, Pokémon fans have been baffled between the two new games: Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. We reveal the set of differences you might want to know to help choose which game best fits you.
Different Time Zones For Each Game
One of the differences between the two new Pokémon games is the fact that each one favors a different time of the day. According to Polygon, Sun follows a real-time schedule while Moon is usually 12 hours ahead of the current 3DS or 2DS clock. The time of the day that a gamer plays affects the Pokémon they'll see. You might want to consider this before choosing the best option.
Exclusive Starter Pokémon
The biggest issue for those who are trying to decide which version to buy is the set of Pokémon that comes along. Both have a number of exclusive Pokémon such as the legendary Pokemon, Solgaleo (Sun) and Lunala (Moon) as seen on its cover.
Every game has a set of 22 Pokemon that can't be found in the other simultaneously released version. Pokemon Sun comes along with Alolan Vulpix, Ninetales, Rufflet, Braviary, Turtonator, Gible, Gabite, Garchomp, Goomy, Sliggoo, Goodra, Tirtuoga, Carracosta, Cottonee, Whimsicott, Cranidos, Ramparados, Passimian, Lycanroc Midday, Solgaleo and UB-02 Absorption. Meanwhile the Moon Version comes with Alolan Sandshrew, Sandslash, Vullaby, Mandbuzz, Drampa, Beldum, Metang, Metagross, Trapinch, Vibrava, Flygon, Archen/Archeops, Petilil, Liligant, Shieldon, Bastiodon, Oranguru, Lycanrock Midnight, Lunala and UB-02 Beauty.
Exclusive Pokemon Transformations
Another thing to keep in mind when choosing which version to buy are the special Pokemon forms locked to each game. A good example of this would be Growlithe-like Rockruff, an Alolan Pokemon that evolves into a different form based on the version of the game you have. Evolving the Pokemon in Pokemon Sun will give you the midday form Lycanroc, a fast Pokemon with a special move it can only learn. Evolving it in Pokemon Moon, hands you the midnight form of Lycanroc, a slower and more powerful version of the Lycanroc evolution. You're evolutions largely depend on the version you buy so choose which is best for you.
Pokémon's New Trial System
The stories in each game are tightly knitted than the previous Pokemon games. Pokemon Sun and Moon may have similar plots, but the island challenge trials might have some differences. Instead of the standard eight gyms, the two versions comprise four separate locations that trainers need to traverse - this is a new feature introduced in the 3DS game. The challenges a player faces may depend on the version of the game he/she chooses. In the new trial system, trainers are tasked to demonstrate their Pokemon mastery throughout different tests. These range from scavenger hunts to dance battles to assigning a trial captain.
Both Are All The Same In New And Interesting Ways
Pokemon Sun and Moon really don't shy away from each other. Both features have compelling stories and great battle mechanics. They have also upgraded their moves (such is the case for Z-moves) and added a new roster of Pokemon making it more fun. I say both games that come in different packages are interesting in their own way. For the Pokemon fans out there, Sun and Moon might be the best Pokemon adventure to date.
