Pop star Selena Gomez made a smashing comeback at the American Music Awards 2016 with an incredibly inspiring speech dedicated to those who, at some point, felt a little “broken inside.” The awards night is the first public appearance of the 24-year-old singer and actress since she decided to take some time off.
Being awarded with the Pop/Rock Female Artist of The Year at the American Music Awards 2016, Gomez delved into an emotional moment last Sunday night. It can be recalled that the songstress canceled her world tour to focus more on her health. She took a break to seek treatment for anxiety, panic attacks and depression that were related to her lupus diagnosis.
Gomez acknowledged that in 2014, on that same stage was the first time she was authentically, 100 percent honest with all her fans. She also stated that the public was given access to everything about her life whether she liked it or not.
The “Hands to Myself” singer’s accepting speech at the AMAs had some intensely personal revelations about herself.
"I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down," she said. "But I kept it too much together to where I let myself down. I had to stop, because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside." She ended her speech with some piece of advice to her fans, saying: "But if you are broken, you do not have to stay broken. That's one thing you should know about me - I care about people. And this is for you."
She then continued with a message thanking her fans for being loyal and shared that she did not know what she did to deserve it. The "The Heart Wants What It Wants” hitmaker left everyone in awe and was applauded by other celebrities at the awards show.
Lady Gaga broke down in tears as she was moved by Gomez's message while Taylor Swift, though missing in action, has shared a video where she shouted and cheered in full support of her BFF's moment.
