One week ago today, Kendall Jenner deactivated her Instagram account. While she did not immediately explain why, a recent quote from Allure shed light on the decision.
"I was just zoning out, taking it all in. And Kylie wouldn't put her phone down. I'm like, 'That's so crazy to me that you're not experiencing this,'" she said. "That was the moment it kind of clicked for me. And I didn't like it. So sometimes I delete Instagram or Twitter or Snapchat off my phone for a couple days."
According to Teen Vogue, it was notably the first time she had actually deleted her account. On an Ellen appearance in the wake of her disappearance, Kendall explained further. "I just wanted to detox," she said.
"I just wanted a little bit of a break. I would wake up in the morning and look at it first thing, I would go to bed and it would be the last thing I looked at. I felt a little too dependent on it so I wanted to take a minute," she added
"It’s so crazy to me that it even became huge news like that," she added. "I guess I didn’t expect it. But I also took my Twitter off my phone. I didn’t delete my Twitter [account] entirely but I took the app off my phone. So I had no idea anyone was even talking about it. I didn’t even think anyone would care."
Entertainment Weekly reported Kendall Jenner's posts on Instagram. In the first photo, a smiling friend donning a white T-shirt and hat shies away from the camera. She captioned the post, “shy boy by me.”
The subsequent post appears to be at the same event, showing one blissful-looking pal with her hands in the air. “Happy by me,” Jenner wrote in the post.
And the final image in the series is of two men, one of whom looks like Jenner’s close friend, Odd Future’s Taco Bennett. In the caption, Jenner wrote, “return of the mack by me.”
