Google Pixel Versus HTC 10 Evo Bolt: Specs, Features And Latest News About The Pixel

Between the Google Pixel and HTC 10 Evo (Bolt), which is better? But before I compare the specs and features between the two phones, let's first discuss the latest news about the Google Pixel's new features.

Google Pixel's Double-Tap and Raise-To-Wake Feature

The Google Pixel phones are considered to be one of the most powerful high-end phones for this year. Reportedly, to further up its status as one of the best phones of 2016, Google has launched new features for the Pixel phones (November 22, 2016). Sadly, these features are currently available to Canadian users for now. As to why, Google has yet to announce the reason, but I'm sure the tech giant will eventually roll it out to other Pixel users.

Google Pixel's New Features Is Now Available?

Apparently, some members of the XDA Developers were able to "capture" the new features and are now posting it on the net for other Google Pixel users to download. However, despite it being open to the public, I think non-Canadian Pixel owners must think twice before downloading it. Remember the news about the "Digital Death Sentence" issued by Google? Getting your Google account banned is not worth the risk.

What Do the New Features offer?

It's quite simple and useful. The "double-tap" enables the user to see notifications on the display screen. As for the "raise-to-wake" feature, it wakes the screen once the phone is lifted or raised. Cool, right? You won't need to press any button to wake your phone. Just lifting your phone will automatically turn it on.

Google Pixel versus HTC 10 Evo (Bolt)

Network. Networks of the Google Pixel are GSM, CDMA, HSPA, EVDO, and LTE. As for the HTC Bolt, the networks are GSM, HSPA, and LTE. The HTC Bolt wins this round.

Body. Google Pixel dimensions and weight is 143.8 x 69.5 x 8.5 mm and 143 g. HTC Bold is 153.6 x 77.3 x 8.1 mm and 174 g. If you've been reading my other articles similar to this, you know that I'm not really fond of heavy phones. This round goes to the Google Pixel.

Display. Screen type, size, and resolution of the Google Pixel is AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, 5.0 inches, and 1080 x 1920 pixels. As for the HTC Bolt, it is Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, 5.5 inches, and 1440 x 2560 pixels. I personally like big screens, so HTC Bolt wins this round.

Platform. For the Google Pixel's OS, Chipset, CPU, and GPU, it is Android OS, v7.1 (Nougat), Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821, Quad-core (2x2.15 GHz Kryo & 2x1.6 GHz Kryo), and Adreno 530. While the HTC Bolt in the other hand is Android OS, v7.0 (Nougat), Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810, Octa-core (4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A57), and Adreno 430. Google Pixel wins this round.

Memory. The internal memory of the Google Pixel is 32/128 GB, 4 GB RAM. The HTC Bolt is 32 GB, 3 GB RAM. Google Pixel wins.

Camera. Rear camera, front camera, and video of the Google Pixel is 12.3 MP, 8 MP, and 2160p@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps, 720p@240fps. As for the HTC 10 Evo, it's 16 MP, 8 MP, and 2160p@30fps (24-bit/192kHz audio), 720p@120fps. I'm going to give this round to the HTC Bolt.

Battery. Google Pixel's battery is 2770 mAh (standby time up to 456 hours and talk time up to 26 hours). On the other hand, the HTC Bolt's battery is 3200 mAh (standby time up to 480 hours and talk time up to 23 hours). This round goes the HTC Bolt.

Features. The Google Pixel has Fingerprint, Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity, Compass, Barometer, and Fast Charging. The HTC Bolt has Fingerprint, Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity, Compass, and also has Fast Charging. However, given that the Google Pixel has two new features, Google Pixel wins this round.

The Winner

The tally is Pixel with 4 wins and Bolt with 4 wins, thus making it a tie. Despite making it a tie, I would also like to point out that the Pixel Phones are also VR compatible. Unlike the HTC Bolt, I'm not sure if it will be VR compatible. With that being said, I think the Pixel phone is the better phone. But of course, this is solely based on my preference.
