Haven't caught your first shiny Pokémon in Sun and Moon yet? Tired of long hours of chaining Adrenaline Orb? If so, then you definitely want to breed one, right? And today, we will be showing you how to improve your chances of getting a rare, shiny Pokémon! Does the Masuda Method still work? Let's find out!
Pokémon Sun and Moon Guide: Does The Masuda Method Still Works?
The standard encounter/breeding rate of shiny Pokémon is 1/8192 but when using the Masuda Method, this rate is multiplied by 6 in Generation V. Now that we're in Generation VII, does the Masuda Method still work wonders? The answer is simply, yes; albeit the exact value of the multiplier is still unconfirmed. Nevertheless, it's a good sign that many people are already finding success in the traditional breeding method which is shown in this video. Now that we know that the Masuda Method still works, let's move on to the actual breeding process.
Pokémon Sun and Moon Guide: How to Breed Shiny Pokémon
Now, let's explain briefly the Masuda Method. Basically, the method entails breeding two Pokémon from different regions (e.g. America and Japan) and the resulting Egg will have an increased likelihood of hatching into a shiny Pokémon. Now, there are two methods of breeding Pokémon. One is by getting two compatible Pokémon and the other is by getting Ditto. Always remember that the Masuda Method works on both breeding methods and thus, it's safe to say that it's better to find an off-region Ditto and breed it with your desired Pokémon.
Pokémon Sun and Moon Guide: How to Get Pokémon or Ditto from other Region?
The answer to this is quite easy. Simply go to the Festival Plaza and then go to Trade and then select GTS (Global Trade System). From here, simply find a Pokémon or a Ditto with a different language and that's pretty much it! But remember, even if you get two off-region Pokémon, if both of them are from the same region (e.g. both from Korea), the Masuda Method won't work. So if you want to get a shiny Pikachu, better get one from your region, which you can easily catch, obviously - and then breed it with an off-region Ditto or off-region Pikachu.
Lastly, breeding in Sun and Moon is a lot easier than it was before. It only takes roughly a couple of minutes before a Pokémon lays an Egg. Also, Maxx shows us a simple hatching trick which hastens the hatching process without breaking a sweat. Check out his video down below.
