Volkswagen is reportedly giving up its diesel vehicle pursuit in the U.S. for good. Fans and enthusiasts that have been patiently waiting for a VW branded diesel vehicles can now give up the wait as the company shifts its focus towards electric vehicles.
Volkswagen Gives Up Diesel Pursuit In The US
In a report from Digital Trends, Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess already confirmed that offering another diesel-powered vehicle in the U.S is no longer something the brand will do. Volkswagen is now shifting its focus towards electric cars. At present, a modular platform called MEB is currently being developed by VW designed to support its models powered by battery. It was also mentioned that VW is looking to electric cars in quantity of no less than a million before the year 2025 arrives.
Volkswagen Is Moving On
Apparently, Volkswagen hasn't seen any sale of its 2.0-liter diesel in the U.S auto market following its confession of making use of illegal software to pass the emissions test in 2015 as reported by CNET. Volkswagen is now moving on and it has already introduced its three-row Atlas crossover last week at the 2016 LA Auto Show. It was mentioned in the report that the new crossovers are specifically made for the U.S auto market. VW has also unveiled an all-electric ID Concept earlier this year that is expected to start production within five years.
