Many rumors suggest that Microsoft is removing their Lumia series from the Microsoft Stores. It also added that the company will stop selling Lumia altogether in December. This didn’t come across as a surprise as, since early 2016, we haven’t seen any new revisions and updates of the Lumia line-up. An online report also revealed a few months ago that Lumia 650 would be the last Lumia to be released by Microsoft.
Microsoft CEO Said They Are Working On An 'Ultimate Mobile Device'
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella talks about how Microsoft missed getting on the first mobile train, but is determined to deliver something unique and will continue to be in the phone market.
“We will continue to be in the phone market not as defined by today’s market leaders, but by what it is that we can uniquely do in what is the most ultimate mobile device. Therefore we stopped doing things that were me-too and started doing things, even if they are today very sub-scale, to be very focused on a specific set of customers who need a specific set of capabilities that are differentiated and that we can do a good job of.” -quoted from what Nadella said in an Australian Financial Review.
According to Decan Chronicle, the report further goes on to talk about Microsoft’s plans to offer something unique instead of competing with others in the market. With this aim in mind, the company isn’t afraid of taking risks and is ready to enter newer segments while also redefining the older ones.
What 'Ultimate Mobile Device' Really Mean?
Nadella is referring to when he says that the company was working on ‘the ultimate mobile device’ is not as simple as jumping to the obvious conclusion, said Forbes. For many people the ultimate mobile device is the one they currently have in their pocket – Microsoft’s current focus on the cloud could mean making that mobile device ‘ultimate’ by getting that user signed up and using Microsoft apps such as Outlook or OneNote.
