Google And Motorola's X Phone Imagined In Rendering And Video

It's no secret that Google and Motorola have been working on what some industry insiders have called a "game changing smartphone."

We've seen some rumored leaked specs but Google and Motorola are keeping this project under wraps until they're ready to unveil it, or an employee snaps a picture and leaks it. So for now we're going to have to settle for a design rendering of what the device could possibly look like. The imagined rendering of the device was created by designer Jason Chen.

When designers begin creating renderings of unannounced devices, we're used to seeing them focus on upcoming Apple devices. The fact that we're now seeing X Phone rendering images and videos is a pretty clear indicator that this smartphone is extremely popular even before it's released, as demand for information about the device continues to skyrocket.

Bearing in mind that this is a designer's rendering and not necessarily what the device is going to look like, following are a few features and some possible elements.

Jason Chen doesn't appear to have any inside information on what he calls the Google X Phone, so his specs and design are solely what he believes, hopes, or is praying the X Phone will look like and feature:

Chen lists the specs of the Google X Phone as having a 1.5GHz quad-core Krait processor, 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with resolution of 1280 x 720 and 13-megapixel PureView camera with 1080p video. His X phone concept measures 128mm x 62mm x 7.6mm and weighs only 125g, and features an all-metal body. The smartphone is also rumored to be the first smartphone to run Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.

However, the X Phone will never use a PureView camera; that's the camera technology Nokia uses in its Lumia Windows smartphones. An all- metal body is certainly possible. We only need to look at Google's new Chromebook Pixel, which features an anodized aluminum body that Google describes as giving the touchscreen Chromebook a high-end, quality feel. It would make sense that Google and Motorola would design the X Phone in a similar fashion for a more uniform look over its product offerings. Apple takes inspiration in design from other products in its lineup, so Google might also. Key Lime Pie as the operating system will almost certainly happen.

Again, these are only renderings and are not what the device will actually look like. Google is expected to unveil the smartphone at Google I/O in May. Think of this as something to hold you over until we start getting real leaks of the smartphone.
