Intel Core i3 Kaby Lake Benchmarks Leaked And Its Better Than i5

Intel's newest processor has surpassed expectations according to a leaked benchmark test.

The Intel Core i3 7350K processor has yet to be officially unveiled but rumors have been circling for quite some time now. The previous bit of news about the new Intel chip divulged its clock speed, SKU, and price. This time, however, the leaked news circles confirm that it is a far better performer than high-end processors such as the i5.

The Geekbench 4.0.3 tryout for Windows x86 (64-bit) was performed by Overclock3d. The results of the tests showed that the seventh generation i3 processor got a single-core record of 5,137 while it scored a 10,048 on multi-core. Those figures are two times better than the scores of fifth and sixth generation Intel Core i5 processors.

In comparison, the Intel Core i3-6100 Skylake processor can only reach a 4,000 single-core score and 7,600 points on the multi-core test. Its base clock is only 3.7GHz and lacks a Turbo Boost clock. Additionally, the price is $104.99.

Not only that, the 7350K is the first i3 chip to be unlocked and have support for overclocking. Those in the know are aware of this detail's true implications. In fact, many experts and enthusiasts have clamoured for a processor that "brings an overclocking friendly unlocked multiplier to the table".

The Intel Core i3 7350K is a member of the Kaby Lake family. It is estimated to retail around $177 which is a bit less expensive than the lowest-end seventh generation Core i5 which costs $195.

The new Intel chip is rated at a TDP of 91W. It also features 4MB of L3 cache. Its standard clock speed out of the box is 4.2 GHz. The new Core i3 will also have two cores and four threads.

With a better performance and cheaper price than the low-end i5, the Intel Core i3 7350K is a viable alternative for those wanting to get their money's worth.
