With the Surface Studio now out in the open, there is still one thing that Microsoft still continues as a mystery - the Surface Phone. The web has already heard a lot of things about the rumored Surface Phone. However, Microsoft is still yet to confirm this phone's existence. Luckily though, it looks like this confirmation is already about to happen.
Microsoft To Release A New Smartphone
Just recently, Satya Nadella of Microsoft has already somewhat confirmed that they are in the works to create the "ultimate mobile device. As per ONMSFT, Nadella mentioned in an AFR interview that Microsoft will continue its existence in the smartphone industry but not as defined by the current trend. Instead, Nadella says that they are going to focus on what they can uniquely do. With that said, it's pretty certain that a Microsoft phone is coming in in the future. However, what is unknown at this point is whether or not it will be the Surface Phone and whether or not it will hit the market this 2017.
Surface Phone Rumors
As per a GSM Arena report, the Surface Phone could be made official 2017, at least based on a supplier-based rumor. Apparently, it was said that Pegatron, a known smartphone supplier, is about to start the production of the alleged Surface Phone. This rumor actually lines up with past news saying that the anticipated Windows phone is up for a 2017 release. However, what's contradicting is the rumors regarding the smartphone's internal specs. There are rumors saying that the Surface Phone will be powered by an Intel chip but there are also news saying that it will use a Snapdragon 835 processor instead.
Needless to say, most of Microsoft's fans expect the Surface Phone to be more powerful than its immediate competitions, which isn't exactly impossible. The company's last flagship phones were uber-powerful and competitively spec'd. Hopefully though, Microsoft is able to pinpoint the problems met by its Lumia smartphones so as to avoid repeating them in their upcoming flagship phones.
