Pokémon Sun & Moon Guide: How To Beat Your Opponent With Just A Magikarp

On Pokémon Sun and Moon, battling the Elite Four members seems too much of a daunting task considering it can be repetitive and exhausting. In this guide, we'll teach you how to beat the Elite Four members or any of your opponents with just a Magikarp.

Pokémon Sun And Moon - How To Beat Elite Four

You can only face off the Elite Four members once you have accomplished all the grand and standard trials in Alola. You can beat Hala, Olivia, Acerola and Kahili in any sequence you wish, and believe it or not, with the much underestimated Magikarp. This Pokémon has been regarded less effective in battles until you morph it into Gyrados.

Beating the Elite Four with a level 70 Magikarp takes perseverance, grinding and overfamiliarity with the mechanics, including the abilities of the Pokémon. Take note that Magikarp's sole ability, Flail, doesn't affect a Ghost-type Pokémon. Flail deals more damage the lower the user's HP.

Pokémon Sun And Moon - Use Struggle

Instead, using Struggle will give you greater odds against the Elite Four. Struggle is used when a Pokémon runs out of PP on their moves or whenever no more attacks can be used. Struggle inflicts damage on all Pokémon regardless of type. Just keep Magikarp alive while Struggling at Ghosts.

Pokémon Sun And Moon - Use Z-Splash

In particular, Elite Four member Acerola focuses on Ghost-type Pokémon. Her team includes Sableye, Drifblim, Dhelmise, Froslass and Palossand. Take note that Stuggle also affects the Pokémon using it so it is best to run the opponent's PP down on all their moves so they's Struggle themselves to death. If you happen to possess Magikarp's Z -Move already at this stage, use it with Splash to bring thrice a single effect to the Pokémon's attack.

Pokémon Sun and Moon are now available on Nintendo 3DS.
