The newly released Final Fantasy XV has a leveling system similar to Final Fantasy X's Sphere Grid called Ascension Grid. This leveling system, also known as a skill tree, is divided into eight major parts that each character can use for their own sets of skills. With the Ascension Grid, players of FFXV can equip their characters with impressive skills and weapons to help win battles. So how exactly do you navigate in Final Fantasy XV's new skill tree system?
Navigating The Ascension Grid
Final Fantasy XV has a faster and fluid combat that requires plenty of skills and wits to play. As you level up into the game, you need to have new sets of skills and other similar upgrades. The Ascension Grid, which is Final Fantasy X's Sphere Grid equivalent - but more tamed, allows you to do that. But since there are eight different categories, planning your pathway into the new FFXV Grid might be a tad difficult.
But not to worry, though. The Ascension Grid works just like any other skill tree system in previous Final Fantasy titles. You still need to have Ability Points to purchase new skills. The eight categories; Armiger, Combat, Exploration, Magic, Recovery, Stats, Teamwork and Techniques, will help you have your own tailored-fit gameplay.
Combat Grid
Basically, you'll want to have some basic battle functionality to use in Final Fantasy XV. That means to say that you have to go to the Combat Grid and choose Blink and Airstep. These two nodes will help you stay on the defense and be more nimble when in combat. Airstep allows you to work well with polearms. In return, you also get to work with combos like Jump Dragoon and Death Drop to immediately kill your enemies.
Teamwork Grid
Next up is the Teamwork Grid. This is where you get the second path, Link Up, to boost your link-strike damage ability. But more than that, the Link Up path allows you to get Deathblow where you can deliver death blows faster to vulnerable enemies. Path 4, which is only for Ignis brings in the Analyze skill set that lets you scan your enemies' weaknesses automatically so you can fight them better. Learning your enemies' weakness also increases your chances of beating them.
Techniques Grid
Another important part of the Ascension Grid is the Techniques. Each member of your team has different techniques in doing damage. Prompto can be switched with Starshell to create a distraction. Ignis can do better with a little Enhancement. Gladiolus can do well with Cyclone. Magic spells are also important as well as new and updated equipment for each character. In the case of combat, each team member's ability and techniques in battle can be used to do more damage against the enemy.
Exploration Grid
The Exploration Grid is more like the part that lets you experience all things from fishing to taking battle photos, cooking food, eating meals and many other activities. Of all these, the best nodes that you can use are Appetize, Happy Camping and Roadrunning. It's not that you won't be able to use all the nodes in the exploration Grid but these three will be the best that you can use when it comes to combat. Still, if you wish to go fishing, you can go to the Angler Action node. If riding Chocobos are your thing, you can go to Chocobump. Chocobos can be raced too in Chocojockey.
Magic Grid
Magic is one important element in Final Fantasy XV. Aside from having physical weapons, you have to have a few magic tricks up on your sleeves whenever you go to battle to successfully fight your enemies. That is, if you can't kill your weapon, then beat them with magic. For a good head start when creating or experimenting with magic, Powercraft would be the best node to get. Magic Action is also important to help you maximize the use of the different magical elements present in the game.
Armiger Grid
The Armiger Grid is a special arsenal for Noctis in Final Fantasy XV. Once you have access to the Armiger Grid, you can get the Iron Armiger to make your Armiger attacks last even longer. The Armiger ability also allows Noctis to increase his speed and power during combat so he can fight longer and even better.
Stats And Recovery Grid
As the name implies, the Stats Grid provides increase in health, strength, spirit and vitality level of each member. The Recovery Grid provides Rapid Regen, First Aid and Expert First Aid to help players recover their Health Points (HP) and Magic Points (MP).
