Nokia Lumia 822, which is the Verizon version of the Nokia Lumia 820 has started to get the Portico update that will bring several enhancements and bug fixes to the smartphone.
Build 10211 of Windows Phone 8 (WP8) aka "Portico" adds smaller but essential new features to the operating system (OS). The update brings persistent Wi-Fi, multiple inbox deletions for text messages, stability improvements, and more. New functionality to multi-select recipients for a message and ignore calls with an SMS reply is also included with the update.
The accompanying firmware also brings some new enhancements and fixes, which include addressing some issues with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and the microSD expansion. The Portico update also adds the capability to select an MP3 file (loaded via a PC) as a ring tone. The update will allow users edit an MMS while forwarding.
"Good news for those on Verizon sporting the Nokia Lumia 822 and who were wondering when your OS update was coming. We are told that update is now live for your device, boosting the OS to version 10211 in addition to adding new firmware to the mix. The rollout began at 10am PT/1PM ET," reports WPCentral.
Users should receive the Portico update Over-The-Air (OTA) on their devices within a few days but, if you want, you can also check for the update by heading to Settings > Phone Update > Check for Updates to start downloading the OS and firmware updates.
As the update file is relatively large you will need to download the update over Wi-Fi. You can find "Benefits of Software Upgrade" and "Software Update Instructions" from Verizon Wireless website.
