Reigning Wimbledon and US Open tennis champ Serena Williams found out the hard way that being a sports celeb doesn't give you special privileges all the time when she was busted for trying to take a picture of Tiger Woods at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida's Honda Classic on Friday, March 1.
Williams, who was last seen dancing with First Lady Michelle Obama in Chicago at Thursday, Feb. 28's "Let's Move! Active Schools" event, was standing at the 17th tee when she tried to use her iPhone to snap a shot of Woods in his signature "let's do this" stroke pose.
According to USA Today, an official thwarted Williams' attempt at taking her shot (at first), by waving his hand in front of her.
Williams did initially comply with the rule that states no pictures can be taken during such a high-intensity moment.
With her characteristic gravitas, Williams ended up taking the picture she wanted anyway, nabbing an image on her iPhone of Woods' "stylish shot" of his "follow-through on the par-3 tee shot."
It was then time for Williams to take her lament to Twitter, where she tweeted:
"Ok at this Golf tournament. Just saw @TigerWoods I understand NO golf Apparently u can't take pics. This security for mad and yelled at me
Apparently u can't take pictures of golfers. In my Defense peeps always take pics of tennis players."
Regardless of her tweet, Williams has learned the hard way (perhaps) that while at the Honda Classic, no one is allowed to take pictures of golfers while on the course.
Then again, considering Williams got the picture anyway and tweeted it too to her 3.5 million followers, perhaps the only lesson learned at the PGA event was that maybe some people can break the rules, even at stodgy golf event.
