Matthew B. Roberts, the co-executive producer of "Outlander" season 3 posted on his Twitter account some tidbits about the script of the upcoming show. But die-hard fans of the show were concerned about the behind-the-scenes pictures that were leaked because they suggest that the show will have some significant modifications done in the novel where the story was lifted.
It Seems The Show Departs From What The Book Says
The photos gave some hints on the much-awaited reunion of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) on "Outlander" season 3 twenty years after they separated. They were reunited in a print shop, where alert fans have seen the word "Jaime enters." However, the book says that the concerned character is already inside the shop earlier before his lover arrives. Roberts has a simple reply after fans brought up the issue. He said "That feels like you have zero trust in me. Be calm and Print Shop On."
Roberts also said that he hoped that they have produced "goodwill and trust" in the fans of "Outlander" season 3 considering that they have already delivered a total of 29 episodes of the show. He even reminded the die-hard fans that guessing what will happen to the show will only create angst in them.
What Was Indicated In The Novel?
In the novel, as written by Diana Gabaldon, Brianna and Jamie do not meet until Jamie and Claire settle in the United States. The fourth book of Gabaldon's novel "Drums of Autumn" has it in this manner. It also shows Brianna taking her trip by way of the stones right after she encounters a newspaper clipping indicating that Claire and Jamie died in January 1776.
She was then able to locate her parents resulting in a happy reunion. However, her joy was only temporary when Brianna discovers that she is pregnant and that she has no idea who the father of the child is. The release date of "Outlander" season 3 is slated next year in April 2017 when the fans will see how the story will develop.
